How do you get the smell of cigarette smoke out of an apartment?

This guy smoked for 13 years in this apartment, the landlord says she sealed the walls and ceiling and then painted, new carpet, re-varnished the wood, etc.  But it still smells like smoke.  I don't want my furniture ruined.

Is there anything that can be done?

Thanks

I HATE CIGARETTE SMOKE!!!!!

I hate to say it, but most likely you'll never get the smell out.  I would be searching for a new place.

I have never known anything to truley remove the odor.  Maybe it's just my nose, but I can always pick it up.

We recarpeted the house, and repainted the walls/ceilings.

We didn't want to live in their filth.

Only if you want all the rubber items (VCR belts, window seals, etc.) in your house to go bad within a year.

ETA:  Oh yeah... ozone is a carcinogen too.

Get an Ionic Breeze.  We put ours in a room of furniture we acquired that smelled like, well how can I describe this, "old people smell."  In a week the smell was gone.

Everytime the smoking inlaws visit the guest room smells like smoke simply from it being on their clothes and stuff.  Stick the ionic breeze in the room and close the door for a day and odors are gone.

Would and Ionic Breeze work if the stick is in the A/C ducts?

have the ducts been cleaned? there are commercial services that do this..

+1 on the  Ionic breeze or go rent a commercial ionizer from an equipment rental company..

O'do Ban(?).  You can get it at Sams Club.  Put it in a spray bottle and use it on the walls, carpets, A/C filter and vents.  Works  pretty good.
