Okay when I installed Windows Media Center for some reason it installed on my D drive and it left a copy of xp home on my C drive.

So when ever I start up my computer it asks me what OS it wants me to boot from and it wont let me reformat my c drive from Media Center. I am fine with my OS on D but I want to reformat my c drive so I can get that old OS out of my c drive its just hogging up hard drive space.

Does that make sense? ....

I don't know about Windows Media Center but with XP i would start the install process till it listed the found OS, the pick C: drive and format it. when it came time to install the OS i would exit. mmk

Formatting C will result in the loss of the bootloader and its required files.  That's why it won't let you format it.

What's up with that Apple?

Yup.

Although you could delete almost all the files on the c drive to recover the space.

Or reload media center on the correct drive this time.

there is no bootloader on D since it has a full os on it?

Nope.  You accidently set your machine up as a dual-boot system where either OS could be loaded.

+1.  Load media center onto the correct drive, delete the other two OSes, fix your boot.ini.

These are two partitions on the same drive, right?  Windows requires that the bootloader be installed on the first partition of the hard drive.  You could erase the folders on the drive, but stay away from those system files in the root directory.

Or, format both during reinstall and put Media Center on the first partition.

it's an apple.

I'm sure it will fix itself if you let sit for a few hours.

At least that's what those commercials imply

Funny story, but that actually does happen.  When my old iMac started going downhill, swearing at it for a couple hours would actually make it work.
