Has anybody else had a problem with Mozilla Firefox crashing almost non-stop??? I am on 1.5.0.6 and it just seems to have been unstable now for the last couple of weeks.

Mine has been acting funny lately too.

Yep, as a matter of fact I have.  Thought it was spyware or a virus but the computer is clean.......

Switched back to IE and no problems.

It is the best.  Never had any problems.

Well I have two seperate computers and they both started acting funny about 2 weeks ago. Been using Explorer 7.0 Beta and it runs great, and very similar to Firefox.

+ 1. I even have fasterfox that tells me how damn long it takes to load a page.

Haven't had any problems myself on the same version.

The longer Firefox is out the buggier it seems to get… try Opera or the latest release of IE7 both work better and both are every bit if not more secure.

I had an older version an upgraded to the latest version of Firefox.  Both have been giving me problems, but for some reason, only on arfcom.  If I click on a thread to open, a new window opens but the page never loads.  Many times I have to close the window and try two or three times to get the page to load.  It isn't as bad with the newer version, but it is still bad.  Doesn't happen with IE.

I'm using it, no real complaints here.

The IE7 beta is too "prettified" so far, hopefully they give you an option to get the suck out like they did with WinXP.

I used Opera before firefox was more than a crash-a-minute bugfest called "mozilla", and it never really was that great.

I am firefox 1.5.0.6.  Haven't had it crash once yet, to be honest.

IE6 never crashed on me either though, I just stopped using it when MS stopped supporting it.  I'll probably go back to IE once it's out of beta and had a patch or two.

crashing?
no

still has that damned memory leak though

Using the same version here - No recent crashes or slowness.

However, after it has been running a while, it starts confusing any punctuation that I type with keyword search macros - For example, when I try to type an apostrophe, it instead opens the key word search box and tries to put any subsequent characters that I type into it. Quitting and restarting Firefox fixes it - for a while...

The problems have been tracked down to mostly flash support. If you take out the flash plugin it should be fine.

Also upgrade to the beta of firefox 2

It got rid of the memory leak!

Mozilla is working fine for me as my browser. No problems, recently. Only problems I ever had was when too much crap was on all at once, and then for some reason MF won't start up until I restart my comp, but yet IE will work.

Weird, but Mozilla owns for me.

The memory leaks sucks, and it crashes all the time.

Well I have been running the Internet Explorer 7 Beta for the last couple of days without any glitches at all. It has tabbed browsing and is very similar to Firefox without the memory leaks! Seems like they may have a winner on this one. I also had fasterfox on Firefox, and IE7 is just as fast if not faster!

I had a problem with it crashing to desktop from the update before this current version.  It would crash and I would click the shortcut icon to restart firefox but it would tell me its still running and I would have to go into task manager to terminate it.  No problems now though.

Which explains why most people have absolutely no trouble with it but a lot of kids complain because they've installed that proprietary Flash garbage.z

How can you tell if there is a flash plug in installed and how would you remove it? I can only find extensiolns here and none are flash.

Firefox 1.5.x.x has a few problems noted.

One I have is that it will not display PDF's inside the browser anymore, and if it starts doing this, there is no known way to fix it aside from reverting to an earlier version of Firefox or possibly reinstalling the browser (though reinstalling hasn't worked for a lot of people already).
,,,,,
A related bug to this is that you cannot "edit actions", because Firefox will not show any mimetyes as saved. There is a mimetype-viewer plugin you can get that uses a separate *.exe to show and edit mimetypes, but  even if you set the PDF association with it, this still doesn't fix the PDF's not showing.

I updated my Acrobat reader like 5 weeks ago, and on Firefox 1.0.x.x it all worked fine.
Upgraded to Firefox 1.5.-something about a week ago, and PDF's got lost. I have to download them to my hard-drive and view them from there.
