I was in a shopping mall, and a white middle-aged man dressed in office casual clothes pulls out a shotgun and fires a shot into the air/ceiling. He makes no specific threat or challenge or anything, mutters and grunts loudly is all. I am behind partial cover (a skeleton of a stairway) about 15 yards away. I fire a single shot from my NAA Guardian 380, and it misfeeds. Naturally, I dodge and weave getting behind more substantial cover. The shotgunner doesn't seem to notice; he certainly doesn't chase me or shoot at me. Behind hard cover, I clear the jam, peek around, and have a clear but impossible shot at about 30 yards away. With nothing apparently vulnerable behind him, I fire two more shots and the gun misfeeds again. I can't tell if I hit him, and decided that I'm not gonna get another chance, so I escape. He doesn't really try to chase me. Other than a sense that I might not really trust this particular gun, what else might this mean? |
