Today was my final day in the U.S. Army. I loved the time I served but I want to try other things now. Tomorrow I will be driving from GA to IN which is about 950 miles that im not looking forward too. I just wanted to say thank you to all the people that supported me during my time and while I was deployed to OIF III. Fort Stewart will always have a place in my heart.

Remember, you signed for 8 years so the Army can still call you back from IRR

But yeah it feels great to get out and see the world again.  I remember my last 3 days in.  Took a bus to the Frankfurt Flughafen from Wildfleck, Germany.  Went to the Hauptbonhof in Frankfurt one last time, visited the Red Light District, got my self a piece of ass for 50 marks, then boared a United flight to Fort Jackson, SC from Frankfurt.  Signed my final paperwork, then got a plane ticket to home from SC.

We all appreciate your Service!  Good luck buddy!

Drive safe!  (I had to drive back to Kali when I left Stewart)

When I was there they didn't have gates, you could drive straight through from Hinesville to Pembrok.  Is it all gated off now?

I really miss Savannah, Tybee island, etc....

You will find yourself looking for veterans to hang with. There isn't anything wrong with that, so long as you recognize the trend and make yourself socialize with civilians ( non veterans). It took me about 5 years to readjust to civilian life. Mostly because I associated with veterans almost exclusively. I missed a lot of opportunites because of this.

Thank you for your service and be sure to go register with the V A.

Thank you for your service.

When I left the Navy in April of '94 I seriously thought about taking my seperation pay and seeing how far it could take me and an '84 Ford van.  Kind of wished I did now.

Drive safe, take the back roads, see a little bit of the country before starting the next portion of your life.

Yep, did the same thing in 87.  Went from Stewart to PA on Tuesday to offload a pile-o-crap, was in Oregon on Saturday.  2yrs later, I was back in uniform cause nothing made sense outside of it. Finally out in 94, and now only look back in my mind.  Congrats on your past, and best wishes for your future.
