I have a Harman Magnafire Series Coal Stove Mark II. Its a great stove for its price, but not like an Efel Montana or Ambassador which are hard to find in the US.

I would have bought a Vermont Casting had they had a coal burning stove.

I'm really interested in a Vogelzang Kitchen Stove model HH005for the camp. These are sold through Harbor Frieght and Lowes.. Currently out of season for both..

I have a Lopi--dunno if they are still around.  I sure do like burning wood though--it just feels . . . nice.

Those are bloody foot warmers!

A wood stove is a device that will hold 300+ LB of wood and burn for 24+ hours with an output of 1.4Mbtu.

Will one of these do?

Your response would be the logical choice for a production unit based on the information given, but no go.

CB's are the best on the market (which isn't all that much of a claim considering their efficiency is around 23%) using their design / style. Along with their lack of output, compared to their size / wood input. Having the constant mess with creosote dripping and endless amounts of smoke (when it is blowing smoke, it is losing fuel that could be burnt in the firebox) when the stove is not 'in demand'.
This is unacceptable for many people.

In my most humble opinion.  Having lived 14 years in VT, and surviving
due to such stoves...

Vt. Castings is about as good as you are going to get for a cast iron stove.
The other choice is a 1/4" steel stove.  Or a coal stove.
I've had all three.  I've had all glowing cherry red, day after day.

If I ever again live in the north, where winters are unfit for human habitation,
I'll go cast iron - COAL.

Propguy - since you live in USA (WTF???)  you can ignore my opinion or not.
Is it over 100 all August (except for 4 days) so far for you too?
