| I'm in the market to buy a grill. Looking for a gas grill, $400 or less. I live by myself, so I don't need a monster grill with 6 seperate burners. Right now I'm looking at Webers. Any comments? |

The Weber Genesis Silver A might fit your bill. It's a smaller no-frills grill but it's a Weber and better than most out there. Top 10 Gas Grills under $500 |

I just bought a Vermont Castings grill from Home Depot for $399 just a couple of months ago. It is sweet. It has very heavy ceramic-coated cast-iron grates -- great for retaining heat after the food hits the grill so you get a much better sear. Three high-quality burners with electric ignition. A good metal shield between the burners and the grates prevents flare-ups and evenly distributes the heat. It cooks very evenly, and it can get VERY hot for a great sear. It is very solidly constructed, and I can't recommend it enough. A side burner would have been nice, but it's not something I'd use all that often. And it was $100 cheaper than a comparable Weber. |
| IMHO if you are only going to own one grill, get a charcoal grill.I was at Home Depot on friday, they had the charbroil brand of H2O smokers on sale for 39.95.You can also use it as a grill. You can grill/smoke a lot of meat in this thing.I picked one up for my neighbor,he hasnt used his gas grill since. |
Yep, stop looking. You're in he right place. While your friends will be on their second or third cheap grill, your Weber will still be in it's early years. I've got a Weber Genesis Silver B, 8 years old, I've only had to replace the flavorizer bars once which is like $20. |
You won't be dissapointed ... Try following the "Weber Method" of cooking (Preheat, sear, flip once, keep the lid closed) if you've never cooked on a good quality grill ... The idea is to let the grill do the cooking, not the grease fire. Once you've cooked on a Weber, it will become physically painful for you to go to a friends house and watch them cook on a cheap Wally World special grill ... Cover wide open, smoke billowing everywhere, grease fire 8 feet tall, frantically trying to get all of the food on the 2 square inches of cooking surface that's actually hot, while the rest of the surface is cold to the touch, and so on. |
