It appears that some of those who are most strongly for for control of immigration also are strongly against requiring citizens and legal residents to have proof of status. For instance it is hard to see how employers can be held responsible for hiring illegals without a secure system of personel identification. The way it is now, most people are have to produce identification all the time but it is easy for illegals to get around it in collusion with employers and other interests who benefit from their being here. I think (a dangerous activty for me) we may have to choose between some LIberty or some border security. Regards, Mild Bill |
