Need to do a hosting switch, I've never done one before.  My current host is going out of business August 5th so I need to switch over fast and have my website move painlessly.  I tried getting back onto Cpanel but I guess I need my user/pass again to get back onto Cpanel and WHM.  Will I need all that information?

Any recommendations for a cheap/reliable host?

Copy all info from current provider so you have it... Find another host, buy package and change primary and secondary DNS to theres.. Takes a few days to propogate. Upload all your info to new host

As for a host, I use powweb and love em... Tell them I sent you (use www.fieroloki.com

I recommend doing some research. Not all webhosts are created equal.

Both powweb AND the host I'm on currently dont come highly recommended.

I use godaddy.com since they are also my registrar, they are OK. I was spoiled on my previous webhost since it was run by a friend I got basically unlimited everything, including SSH access ,which I miss on godaddy, as they don't allow it for security reasons.

ETA: after reading the links posted above it seems godaddy isn't that good either. Personally I would like a better host, but don't care to spend the money.

I've helped people with their hosting with GoDaddy...they make it pretty easy, and they're reliable.  Pricing is not as dirt cheap if you need a lot of services, they kinda add on a few bucks here and there depending on what you need.

I've used DixieSys for years, they do ok.  They've been down once or twice in the past couple of years for a couple hours at a time (IIRC).  Also you need to keep a good email address on file with them so they can contact you if they're upgrading.  They were changing servers last year and I wasn't watching that email inbox...they swapped servers, and I lost my site.  Didn't take long to get up and going though.

I've also done the 1and1 deal.  They're always up and if you're not as familiar with hosting details, they make it pretty easy.  Some reporting is a bit odd to find.

I've also got some hosting with NetFirms, and I've been happy with them...especially their first year promo for $10 for the first year.

+1 on backing up all your info
