i.e. I want to hide my IRC chat program when minimized since I leave it on all the time but leave it idle and only check it at certain times.

I seem to remember a shareware app years ago that allowed you to place any application in the system tray. Hmmm...

Mirc can do this without anything else.

i dont know if ur using Mirc, but in the options go to the display options, click the tray button, then select "place mirc in tray when minimized".

I use a little program called Watch cat that lets me hide windows that are not in use.

Also perfect to hide porn quickly..

or to hide shit from the boss.
