When King Tut ruled Egypt (1333 BC – 1323 BC), the Great Pyramids were already over 1,000 years old and Dynastic Egypt had existed for 2,000 years.

And Helen Thomas was the fresh-faced new girl in the press corps.

Perspective on what?  How young our country is? How small and short our lives are? That people who are dead have been dead even longer?

The exact date of the construction of the great pyramids is disputed. It ranges from 2,000 to 10,000 years ago depending on which scientist  is asked.

I'm a history geek to the fullest, but this isn't my era of experitse. Just quoting some stuff I saw on the discovery channel.

Personally, I think they are older than most archeologists agree on. Much older.

Most agree that they are at least 4,500 years old.

A few have suggested they are much older. Nobody I have ever heard of is suggesting they are only 2,000 years old since clear referrences to them exist which are 4,500 years old.

And you have an average lifespan of 80 years.

Feel insignifigant yet?

All inclusive.

All of a sudden, the fact that I have to work late tonight, doesn't matter to me as much.

Thanks man!

Yep, I was at the Field Museum in Chi-town last weekend and my wife and I were talking about this... "My name is Ozymandias, King of Kings.  Look upon my works, ye mighty, and despair."/  No thing beside remains. Round the decay / Of that Colossal Wreck, boundless and bare, / The lone and level sands stretch far away.
