I've been curious for a while. What do you guys listen to, and what are you currently enjoying? Myself, mostly metal. The harder, the better. I'm not sure how many of you are inclined, as not many people I've met over the age of thirty enjoy metal, but I may be surprised. Death metal, thrash, black, speed, doom. Some favorites are Slayer, Obituary, Burzum, Deceased, Agalloch, Katatonia, Lord Gore, and Shining. Some other favorites are Johnny Cash, The Doors, Robert Bradley, Leadbelly, Stones, some early-late 80's punk, and some Celtic styled music. |

I hate to use genres for music cause a lot is hard to classify. I consider myself odd because I'm college aged and listen to all the newer rock etc, but also other stuff like Groove Armada, Zero 7, Lo-fidelity allstars and classical music. ETA: My current favorite CD is the Arctic Monkeys debut CD "Whatever people say I am, That's What I'm Not" |

Hell yeah! I've got a couple Butthole Surfers cassettes sliding around my car somewhere. High on Fire and Church of Misery are two bands I recommend checking out if anyone is fond of old doom or Black Sabbath type rock. Heavy, fuzzed-out, reverb-ridden insanity. Church of Misery High on Fire |
Even your board name is "metal". I want to start a metal band, and call it "The Hugs and Kisses" or "Lollipop". Why? Just because.

Lite rawk hits from Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, and of course Debbie Gibson. When I feel like Thrashin I listen to Stryper, Warrant, Poison etc Dude, you should check out this link Of course there is always "soon i discovered that this rock thing was true jerry lee lewis was the devil jesus was an architect previous to his career as a prophet all of a sudden, i found myself in love with the world so there was only one thing that i could do was ding a ding dang my dang a long ling long" Gibby Hanes on Ministry's Psalm 69 |
| I listen to the 19th century version of heavy metal, like Saint-Seans' third symphony, Brahms' fourth symphony, Lizst's Les Preludes, Stravinski's The Rite of Spring, etc. I also, of course, like most other kinds of 19th-century music, not just the loud, powerful stuff. I don't so much like the earlier stuff, like Bach and Vivaldi. |

I prefer 60's and 70's rock, pop and soul vastly over everything else, all genres, before or since. Give me The Animals, Steppenwolf, Sam the Sham and the Pharaohs, Tommy James and the Shondells, Cream, The Grass Roots, CCR, and Johnny Rivers. Give me Marvin Gaye, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Supremes, Aretha Franklin. Hell, I even like such stuff as Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. For some reason, this music is what I find most pleasing to my ears. And it was recorded before my time, as I was not born until 1977. So I am not sure where my love of this music started. I think it might have something to do with watching all of those Vietnam movies that came out in the 1980's that exposed me to the music of the period I might not otherwise have heard so much. |
