I'm looking to build my next computer from the ground up. I just need a good site or two possibly with forums to show me everything I need and how to do it right. I'll probably be buying everything from newegg.com.

I could but where's the fun in that. Everyone knows that the hive mind is all knowing and would give me a straight answer right away without any smartass remarks. I want to go someplace else where I can be abused by everyone who knows more about computers than I do

Well could I put together a computer that's better than my old one which is a Dell 8300 with these specs:
P4 2.6 ghz
512 ram
nvidia 6600gt
SB live 5.1
dvd reader
cdr reader/ recorder
altec lansing 5.1 surround sound
19" crt

Budget right now is $900 and I would be replacing everything. Will that allow me to get all better stuff than what I currently have now?

you need to get at least 1gb RAM, preferably 2gb. 512mb will not cut it. You can sacrifice some processor speed to free up more $$.
