What's the most unusual or peculiar thing you have seen on Google Earth? Somewhere in the bay around Tokyo I saw a ship sized area just censored out. (Sorry I didn't write down the coordinates). And in Arizona there is a gridwork of maltese crosses from an old top secret satellite mapping endeavor. What have you guys seen that you found strange or really bizarre? If you can add coordinates or pics. |

Check out air force bases. Edwards has a huge compass rose painted out in the desert, among many other seemingly useless figures. None of it is secret stuff, but its still fun to look at. The tops of roof tops in cites are often sites of odd things. Everything from gardens, sculptures, fake airplanes and paintings. You can also spot impact craters from ancient meteors. Try a google search for 'google earth landmarks'. There are rabid fans who spend hours looking for cool things to let others know about. -local |

Haven't tried it w/ Google Earth yet, but back when Google Maps was the only game in town, I got a load of a big gray area where Groom Lake, etc, should be. I zoomed it as much as I could and looked all around the perimeter of the area and found a bunch of square-shaped "impressions" in the sand around S-1 and such.
