I have a 1997 Chevy Venture have not had any problems except the intake gaskets which was a known problem. I also had the starter go out 2 years ago. We were going on vacation in 1 1/2 days so I had it towed and worked on by a local mechanic. 90 bucks labor and he had done next day. I also had th A/C blow a fuse now and then. I asked him to look at it as that pointed to a possible problem. It always blew when turned on. he looked at it and puta resetting breaker on it with a delay. He said sometime on startup you get a very short spike that pops the fuse, He said it would solve the problem.didn't charge me a thing.nice guy ,so I thought.Anyway toward the end of last year the A/C stops working agian. The reportfrom the wife makes it sound like it went out slow like a freon leak. We let it go until it starts to get hot this year. I go out and check to see if it nneds freon, it doesnt. I think the clutch may have stuck so I give it a tap no deal. So I then look at the breaker he put in. Itsa fucking 30 amp breaker with a delay put into a 10 amp circut. I get a bad feeling I know exactly what is wrong. I take it into the guy that nomally does work I cant. I want it written out whats wrong.The wiring harness is burnt. 2 wires going to the compressor are bare and burnt through. He pulls those out as weel as the breaker and relay for the A/C as there getting hot. He also tells me he doesnt know how far the problem is and it it hurt anything on the computer and A/C. I said fine just write up what you see and he gave me the burnt wires he took out the breaker and the relay. I paid him and the wife picked it up after they close. New problem now the speedometer just bounces and doesnt work the transaxle will not shift out of 1st either automatically or manually the check engine light and parking brake light is on. So now I have 2 jackasses. In fairness the 2nd guy may not have been his fault but he shure could have told me about the check engine light. I also guessing e didnt get any codes or check for them. He should have told me before picking it up that it was worse.He said he didnt leave anything disconnected that would cause that.I know a way general question with not a lot to go on. The best part is I looked at the first guys reciept and he put nothing on it about the A/C It just keeps getting better and better My question could anything have been done that would cause the shifting check engine , brake light and speedometer problems that were not there before? |
