Is this a worthwhile organization to join?  Though I am an NRA member, I feel that they are more geared towards hunters than the military style rifles that I am a fan of.

I enjoy membership in every group I can find - I'm not Jewish but belong to the JPFO.

How long have you been an NRA member. They are all for our rifles as well.

I say join. Its a good org and needs #'s. Just please dont turn into an anti NRA Pro GOA person. I didnt join the GOA for many years because I was under the impression all they did was bitch about the NRA. Glad I looked past the few loudmouths and listened to folks who were members of both.

Ask yourself this, what percentage of gun owners are strictly military type gun owners? I don't know the answer maybe 10%.  I think 20% would be pushing it.  That said why would any pro-gun organization focus it's main efforts on such a minority of it's members while leaving the majority off to the side?  As far as I know there is no national sport utility rifle pro-gun organization so that leaves us with few choices.  I'm not saying we should be neglected, I'm just pointed out why the major organizations don't focus on what we want as much as we want.

As for GOA, take a look at their website.  Look at what they publish and what they say they do.  Go back the last year and look at all the major events such as several states that had CCW in the works and finally passed the law and see what GOA had to say about it and what they did.  What you will find out is that in most cases they didn't even bother to tell their members that the issue was coming up for a vote.  The excuse for that is that they only focus on "national issues".  If you look at what national issues they are pushing forwards...well those are hard to come by too.  I like the stance of the organization but for the last couple years they have been very ineffective in everything they do.

I would also listen to the free JPFO interviews on their site.
