So it looks like I'll be buying a diesel truck shortly.  This will be the first diesel vehicle in my family, and while I've driven them, and several of my friends have them, I don't know much about them.  I'm looking for a Diesel for Dummies reference, can you guys give me any pointers please?

Thanks,

Michael

I just bought my 1st.  Not really that much to know.

- finding a "gas" station is a bit harder

- the pump areas are dirtier, since diesel doesn't evaporate

- carry some gloves for filling up - if diesel gets on your hands it doesn't evaporate, and the smell doesn't wash off

- there's a fuel filter that you need to release the water from.  NBD

- Turbo diesel = fun!   I'm loving it.

- most take a LOT of oil for a change (like 12 quarts)

- there is a fuel filter that collects water, and you should drain that at ever fillup

Try not to run your diesel completely out of fuel.
