The most common reason for random video card problems is a failing power supply. Video cards not only require a lot of power, but they are very sensitive to variations in voltage, which often cause components on the card to overheat. Left untreated, they will eventually burn out. These problems are more common in the summer, as the additional ambient heat makes the power supply run hotter, stressing the components inside and causing power fluxuations. -Troy |
