Corned beef hash (a little crispy, thanks) with some scrambled eggs topped with fresh salsa is a little slice of heaven on a plate. When my dad and I go out shooting we usually meet at his favorite restaurant for breakfast, and I always get the hash. |
Tolly-ho survives to this day . . . they are a chain (maybe not the same place) they are in several cities that I have heard of, very close to college campuses. Breakfast 24/7. Pancakes, cheeseburger and a large choc. malt . . . staple food when I was a senior in HS. |

Make your own. Coarse grind potatoes, onions and corned beef. Salt and pepper to taste. No extra crap make patties and fry until done. As long as you don't over do it when frying it isn't too bad for you and is a hell of a lot better than the canned stuff. Also roast beef hash using left over roasts or steak or tri-tip. |
The MRE CBH was pretty good, I loved the "escalloped potatos with ham" but it seemed nobody else did, so I always got my favorite.

Trust me...not the same place, at all. It was a hole-in-the-wall. Hopefully, it's still there. Eric The(Hopeful)Hun

Love it for breakfast, just a little on the crispy side. A decent breakfast of that will last you `til supper. Stryker - the MRE isn't bad, if you can heat it up, but cold it's just goo.... I think I still have a few in the coldroom downstairs.... Chairborne - yep, the potatoes & ham were good, but the omlet w/ ham was some nasty crap! I gave a chunk of it to a stray who was begging when we were on the Kuwaiti border, and he just sniffed it, and walked off. Who said dogs were dumb?! ![]() DT120 - I couldn't deal w/ chicken ala king. My gunner had one that blew up on him (we're guessing that it had leaked into the bag and fermented) when he cut it open, and it took us a couple of weeks to get rid of the stench! I couldn't touch it after that. The turkey loaf was edible, sort of. Now for mystery meat, there was always 'Ham & Chicken Loaf"..... (Dating myself here..... )

microwaved hash must look like dog food.... When I was a kid my dad would slide it out of the can, cut it into inch-thick slices, coat them in italian-style bread crumbs, and fry the slices. that's good eatin. |
