...that something terrible just happened to a loved one?

I was out in my yard finishing some yard work when I heard a loud crash at the intersection about a half a mile away. I remember my wife saying she was going to stop by the grocery store on he way home and when I heard the crash I looked at my watch, 5:45 p.m., the normal time she would have been pulling in the drive way and about the time she'd been at that intersection if she was going to the grocery store.

I freaked. Hopped in the truck and drove up to the intersection. Wife wasn't there! Relieved I went to the grocery store and found her. She was surprised to see me and asked if I saw the accident.

She was behind the van that got T-boned! Crap that was close!

I'm glad your wife is OK.  That's all that matters.
And I'll skip the joke about "better luck next time"...
