GWB was having his daily, morning briefing just a while ago. The Secretary of Defense reported to the President that three Brazilian men were killed in Iraq yesterday by terrorists. There was a terrible silence. The President slumped in his chair and covered his face with his hands, on the edge of tears as his Cabinet lean forward with looks of grim concern. Rummy spoke first: "Mr. President?" The President sat up straight, closed his eyes and put up is right hand in a "hold-on" gesture. He then asked quietly: "How many thousands are in a Brazilian?" |
