Natives. Lifetime warranty on their lenses, even if you scratch them. |
I have a pair of Natives that I wear for sunny shooting glasses and active outdoor activities. They are great sunglasses, but I prefer a more classic style for daily wear. Ray Bans warranty is only one year in the U.S. Now I'm glad I didn't spend the $300 on Maui Jims. |
They have other styles than M-frames. My bro has a cool pair that have a similar shape to the ones in the pic you posted above. Dig this Check the Half Jackets, A WIREs, and Whiskers... I use two pairs of Oakley M frames for my shooting glasses and can't recommend them highly enough to people. They stand by their products too - their customer service is stellar. |
I love my Bolle's. They are prescription and stay in my car whenever I'm not wearing them. I've never had any problems with them aside from having to tighten the screws on the frame a couple of times. I don't know how much they cost though, insurance paid for 'em
|
Actually some of those (Particularly the Whiskars) are pretty cool. |
What he said! And the wraparound,Oakley style, just looks GHEY!!!! |

Oakley, seriously. Back home before deployment, I'd never owned a pair of sunglasses over $15. I always thought Oakley were overpriced and overhyped. After wearing them and seeing what they can do, I'm a believer. Not too mention their customer service towards the Military and CS in general is fuckin top notch. |
I was looking at the Why 8.0's also. BTW, Oakley warrenty is also only one year. |
I bought a pair in '99. B&L still owned them, and they've been the best pair of sunglasses I have ever had. I dropped them and broke a lens (glass), and they replaced it for free, even though I told them I dropped them and shattered it. On Tuesday, I forgot that I had them on top of my coat in the passenger seat of my car, and when I grabbed my coat, I launched them out into the parking lot. Landed on the lens, on concrete. Big gouges in the glass. I guess I'll look to see what else is out there. When I bought these, B&L was the best I knew of (at normal prices). Jim |
Thats all you need. Workmanship defects will show up in that amount of time, scratches on lenses aren't covered by anybody, and Oakley lenses don't de-laminate. oakley.com/technology/impact_protection/ |

I stick with the following brands... 1. Prada $260 2. Christian Dior $255 3. Serengeti $150 Never had a problem with any of them. I no longer buy Ray Ban...and Oakley. They are a cheap brand of sunglasses that has stayed popular far too long. The quality is not where it needs to be for the price. YMMV ETA - Spelling |

Actually they're pretty lenient on the timing of their warranty. Without getting into details, they stand behind their products 100%. I'm a customer for life so long as they keep it up, and I'm not afraid to proselytize. Seriously. They're that good. Optical quality, protection (in my M Frames), customer service... they have it all. |
I forgot about those, they are nice glasses but they aren't polarized. I was told that it's because they are really designed for pilots and the polarized lenses make it hard to read the new guages and stuff in planes (look at the screen of you PDA or cell phone with polarized lenses to see what I mean). |
|
Oakley, why? They are virtually non-destructable They can double as shooting glasses They protect your eyes from both UV and flying debries (not bullets) They are OPTICALLY CORRECT (Very Important if you wear your shades often) They are recommended by Pat Rogers personnelly They support both our military and law enforcement They are a US company and their shades are made in USA They give good deals (find a friend that can purchase them at your friendly PX) to our service men and women. Very regrettable that I cannot wear Oakleys due to my prescription are beyond what they can make for their lens. I bought my wife a pair two years ago and she still wear them everyday. |
That's where I bought them. I have no problem with their service, they made the first replacement very easy. I'll probably buy whatever my new pair is from them. |
The Cheapos have always given me a headache with extended wear. Despite the problems I'm having now with my Ray Bans, I could wear them all day with zero discomfot. |
Exactly correct. I wear the Serengeti sunglasses when I fly. I wear the others when i'm not. $300 dollars may be a lot for sunglasses...but I think they are worth it. To each his own I guess. |
I was just looking at their website, it seems they are now making some of their glasses with a polarized option. |
|
I have a pair of Ray Bans purchased in 1978 that show no signs of what you are talking about, They still look great. The little screws that hold the arms on kept comming loose until I Lok-tited them, Other than that no problems whatsoever. I purchased a pair of "CODE" polarized sunglasses(I think I paid $120) around 10 years ago & they held up fine also. |
