Hey,

I have a Klipsch 5.1 surround sound system on my computer, and I already have a 19" monitor... But, what I want to do is, I want to hook up my TV to my computer, and along with my 5.1 surround system.

My video card in my computer is an ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB. I "think" I have all of the cables, but I remember doing this before with a friends computer, and we hooked it up, turned it on, but nothing would show up on the TV (monitor).

Has anyone else done this? Any help/suggestions?

You can get a TV card for about $50 then its just a matter of plugging the coax in the back.

My radeon card has an S-Video output for TV. After you plug that in you have to turn it on in the video card settings.

If your TV has a DVI input you are good to go. You just need a DVI (digital) cable that is long enough.

You may need to set your video card to output to a second monitor.

yes, and you most likely will need to set the resolution all the way down. (Not 100% positive though, in the old days you used to have to, dunno if current drivers detect a TV and do it for you.)

Not if you have an HD TV.

And some TVs have a standard VGA input.

Make sure you turn the video output of your card on in the Catalyst control panel.

If your monitor is a good one,  it'll deliver a better picture than almost ALL TV sets, even HDTVs.

If you have an S video port it's just a matter of getting a cable from Altex.
