hello;
i know better but i opened an e-mail and something made the home computer go into the ditch.  norton will not find what i have in normal mode or in safe mode.

what i have;  home page is gone, will only let about:blank show up in address "bar"(?) for home page.  the page that showes up looks like something from m/s windows.  there is a "click here" to down load "anti-spyware program".  if you click, you go to a site that "sells" antispylab, for a adware sheriff program.  buy the way no one answers the phone number at site, i tried to call.

not able to use most of my "favorites".  this antispylab page shows up @ every 3 min.

running windows xp.  i am having problem down loading a few of norton live update.  ran one alternate live up date by norton but said not to run, after down loading, its program for 48 hr.  (24 to go ).

any suggestions.  may need a computer pro for help.  bye bye $100.

Download and run AdAware Personal, which is like an anti-virus program specifically made to get rid of this adware crap.

Ad-Aware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and SpywareBlaster.
For antivirus, get Avast, or BitDefender or AVG.

All of the above are FREE.
Just download them, update their databases and let them do their thing.

Agree with Ad-aware, Spybot Search and Destroy, and would add Microsoft Anti-Spyware now called Defender. It's somewhat likely that you'll not be able to remove the infection automatically and may have to do some registry editing following removal instructions.

Sounds like spyaxe.  Google for free removal options.

hello;

good points, ran spy-bot, ad-ware, and m/s destroyer.  they find "stuff", remove it, but back in seconds.

about:blank can be a pain in the arse!!

Try here... www.pchell.com/support/aboutblank.shtml

This is a browser hijack, but could/can be bundled with other expliots.

+1 on Defender... As much as I dislike Microsloth... Defender is a pretty decent product.
