Ok, just left a gun shop that offered me a Remington 1903 bolt action 30-06 w/ decent wood, appears to have been refinished .  There is a Eagle? and 1942 stamped on the barrel.

A springfield M1 Garand with shitty wood w/ I think it said Arlington on the barrel, the inards look good.

A M1 carbine with a black coate side folder, bolt wear, 5 magazines.  All for 1350.  Is this a good deal?  I am not up to par on rifles as I only started buying long gun after joining this site.

Any help appreciated.  I have until 3pm today to make up my mind.  He is also tossing in like 100rds and a bayonet.

ETA:  The Garand has "SA" with a "H" underneath it on the buttstock on the left side.

03's in good shape are going for around 750 and up here

garands reatil in decent mechanical shape with bad wood around 500+ with good wood 7-800+

m1 carbines <assuming usgi> in that shape 3-400. if not a gi less.

i say it's a fair price if you want all 3. with the ammo and all.

I don't think the m1 carbine is usgi, I am assuming it would say usgi on it somehwere?  Can't remember what it said on it.  The 03 looked real good compared to the Garand.

Go to the CMP and figure out how much they would cost there.

I was just on there and I think it was around 500 or so for field grade if I remember right.  But this wood has been knocked around pretty good.

you can price the 03 and M1 there.  the carbine is a crap shoot.

CMP 03- $400
CMP M1- $350 for rack grade, $395 for field grade, $500 for service grade (but they're drying up fast)

Hmmm.  With those numbers I think 1350 is a bit much then.

That Garand is most likley a Blue Sky import.....3, maybe 4 hundred tops, IMHO.

You know what I think it said that on the rifle somewhere.  I know it said something on the barrel and I can't remember.

I believe that Arlington Ordnance re-imported Garands from Korea in the late 80s.  You said the word "Arlington" appears on the barrel, so it's likely it's a re-import.  Some of these were fine, others weren't.  If it's a re-import, it's worth a little less.

Look at the carbine's receiver and see who made it.  If it's an aftermarket Universal or Iver Johnson it's not worth nearly as much as if it's USGI made by Winchester, Inland or Rock-Ola (and others I'm probably forgetting about).

Yup, the carbine is an Iver Johnson.  Sucks, I really wanted to get one but I obviously need to do my homework before I go out looking again.
