Looked at a very nice one at a garage sale today. Marked AR15 bayo lug, no block, A1 hider, 40K SN# range triangle handguard, Has some extra mags, bayonet, sight tool and some other stuff. Whats a fair price for it? No box. Thanks.

What were they asking?

He wanted somewhere around 1K, which I thought was high, but it WAS in really nice shape and I've been looking for a real nice SP1 for a while.

That's probably about right.

I saw one in great shape a few weeks ago for $1050.  Should be a decent buy.

Dated it to 1974 according to my book.

I think these are worth about the same (in the free states) as they were during the ban.... maybe a tad less, but not much.  If they are in good shape, between $700 and $1100.

The real question is - what is it worth to *you*?

If you want it to own a piece of history, keep it original, then its worthwhile to pya a bit for for this AR-15.

If you want it as a base to upgrade, changing out receivers, etc.... there are better options out there.

So if I found one in a garage sale, depending on condition... I'd probably start at around $600 or $700 and go up.

Not going to change it, I have plenty of other one's that are much more easily worked on. Besides, the flat top is much more a viable upper today over the carry handle model.

The condition is much nicer then the few I have seen around here, the plastic is unmarked on it, there are a few nicks on it, they look to be the handling type. BBL is perfect.

Really just want one for the collection, more then to shoot. But I'm cheap and don't want to over pay either.

I've seen them priced as high as $1800 at local gunshows..........

They also packed them up at the end of said show at that price too.
