Figured I'd MAYBE get a quick and adequate response here

I have a .22 cal Dewey coated rod I use on my AR of course.  Can I use this on virtually any other gun or is it too small?

Could I use it to clean shotguns with the adapter tip, or say even a .50 cal?

Just curious if I have to buy a new cleaning rod everytime I get something of a bigger caliber

I'd honestly just buy one of the .30 cal rods for the bigger stuff, my .22 cal dewey is a bit thin for big stuff

I might just have to do that :(

Dewey makes a two peice .50 BMG rod.

I don't have a .50.  Just using as an example for larger calibers :)

I'm going to order another rod.  I just don't know if I should get a .30 cal rod as mentioned, or just a shotgun rod for now.

Don't shotgun rods have bigger tips on them for the larger threads and brushes or whatever?

Is it worth getting a coated rod for a non-rifled shotgun, or should I just get one of those Wally-World 3-pieces?

ETA  - Basically, right now all I own is a 10/22 and my AR.  Getting a 12G really soon.

What would you do as far as cleaning materials?  I have everything possible for my AR.  I don't mind getting what I need to keep my shotgun working the way it should :)

The shotgun might be my last firearm purchase for a little while, and probably my only shotgun.  I don't see a need to have 2+ shotguns when I don't hunt.

What should I buy logically?  Every shotgun brush I've seen has the large threads on it as if a regular rod would need an adapter.
