I was thinking about using my FLETCH high ride holster and my Sig 299 for CC.  The belt and holster seem to hold the gun tight against my body but when I have the gun behind my hip on the belt I find it hard to sit in a car.

Any thoughts?

Hip carry is tough in a vehicle when wearing a seatbelt no matter which holster or gun you are carrying.  Most people I have talked to on this will take it off their hip for car carry and lay on passanger seat or tuck between seat and middle console.

I carry at the 3:30 position and drive about three hours a day, and I've had back surgery. No problem. Find the right holster, the right belt, and the right pants/pant size, and you can figure out a position that works. If you don't have a good belt, I mean a carry belt, not a walmart special(I love my Don Hume) it will make a HUGE difference.

Check the carry boards here.

The only 2 handguns in my collection that I can CCW IWB without them causing some level discomfort in the car are my Beretta 9000 and Makarov.  Everything else ether gets me in the hip with the muzzle end of the slide or in the side with the grip.

I haven't found an OWB config that works well for me.

It's going to be a bit of trial and error as you have lots of variables (body shape/size, gun shape/size, holster design/position, position of the seat belt mechanism and contour/firmness of the seat itself).

As I saw on a board somewhere in the past... Your CCW isn't always comfortable but it *is* comforting.
