Is a spring always the same? By that I mean if I took a 18 lb recoil spring and cut 3/4 of it off, is it still going to be the same. Will it still have 18 lbs of force?

Spring force is based on the diameter and stiffness of the wire, not the length nor number of coils.

So I could take any spring and cut it to a desired length and it would work the same as it did before. If I am not getting this please speak up now.
