Every year this needs to be applied for in Mn.

It is also needed to buy AR/AK etc.

The procedure still doesn't stop private sales wether criminal or not.

Just makes it a hassle to go to stores or shows.

No cost, but a trip to the sheriffs office to fill out forms.

It always seems to expire around the time I'm shopping

Do you have to buy a "permit" to exercise Free Speech in MN?

This is socialist government theory in action.  Take all power unto yourself and then dole it back out in tiny bits, usually only after a lot of red tape is negotiated.

This kind of thing makes no one any safer, it just gets the subjects used to the idea that all power comes from the government, who can take it away instantly anytime they want.

No, because free speech is a "right of the people."

Sort of...
If no CCW you have to apply for a "pruchase" permit. 5 bux I think.
If you have a CCW that is your permit.

I think my purchase permit took 24 hrs. Pretty sure.
you can get 5 at a time/year.
CCW unlimited purchases.

So kind of like a background check to see if you are worthy of having a background check with every gun you buy

We have to get a NEW one for each gun.  If you have a CCW then you dont need one but still have to take it in to get registered.

Ok Mr. 25 questions answered, Handgun Safety Certificate holder.

Good point though. California doesn't have a monopoly on moronic gun laws, by any means.

Nobody should be giving you permission to exercise a right. If you need permission then it is a privelage that can be revoked. Wake up America.

Sounds like the voting public of MN needs to get that changed.

CCW has taken off across our country due to conservative poll results and effective political lobbying.  Activism works.

No kidding, NY has a pretty old CCW law (before a lot of so-called "free states" allowed any CCW). I have to
1-pay for gun and get receipt
2-Go to county clerk and give them the receipt and have them type the new gun on the back of my permit and give a "Coupon" to the gunstore
3-Return to the gunstore and pick up the pistol

Yeesh
