Fun to listen to, easy to forget the names. I've been playing around with Napster lately, and I've got an urge to reminise about those flash in the chart type songs. Trouble is, I can barely remember any titles. So, what are your favorite One-Hit-Wonders? |

I was just listening to mine on my way to work. "Banditos" by The Refreshments. It came out on a cd titled "Fizzy Fuzzy Big and Buzzy" in 1996. I bought the cd, but sadly it turns out the only song I liked was Banditos. The Refreshments also did the theme song for King of the Hill. |

IR www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=429092 Though he might have taken a few more than one hit. |
We must be the only two people in the world that dig this song. Almost all of my mix CDs have Pistols and Pesos on them. eta, Damn, my meds have my head foggy tonight! Maybe Banditos and Pistols and Pesos isn't the same song? |
Damn, how could you not like the Refreshments? That's some seriously bad-ass southwestern rock and roll. |
It's not that hard when you're from the northeast.
Its the same. Everybody knows That the world is full of stupid people So meet me in the mission at midnight, we'll divy up then. Everybody knows that the world is full of stupid people I've got the pistol, So I'll get the Pesos. Yeah, that seems fair. |
So just how far down do you want to go? And we could talk it out over a cup of Joe? And you could look deep into my eyes Like I was a super-model? Uh-huh. Well, it's you and me, baby; no one else we can trust. We'll say nothin' to no one, no-how or we bust, And never crack a smile Or flinch or cry for nobody. Uh-uh. Well, give your ID card to the border guard. Yeah, your alias says you're Captain Jean-Luc Picard Of the United Federation of Planets, 'Cause he won't speak English anyway. Everybody knows That the world is full of stupid people, So meet me at the mission at midnight; We'll divvy up there. Everybody knows That the world is full of stupid people. Well, I got the pistol so I'll keep the Pesos, Yeah, that seems fair. So put the sugar in the tank of the Sheriff's car, And slash the deputy's tires and they won't get very far When they finally get the word That there's been a hold-up, Uh-huh. Don't you just want to sing along at the top of your lungs during the chorus? -Troy |
I love that song! I saw them at a club here during the week or so that they were a hit. Great show, they have other good songs too. |

I thought of a couple more on my way home from work. There is a song called "Blue Monday" that came out in '99 or so, by a band named Orgy. It was actually a remake of a song by New Order. Also (and I dont know the band) was the song "You spin me 'round" "You spin me right 'round baby, right 'round, like a record baby, 'round 'round 'round 'round" For the love of God, I don't understand my taste in music. I can go from Metallica and Megadeth, to the Cure, to The Gin Blossoms and Counting Crows, to Cradle of Filth, to Depeche Mode. But I'd rather get poked in the eye with a sharp stick than listen to a country song. |
That's Dead Or Alive that sings that song. |
I've been to a couple "Country and Western" clubs around here. Seriously, I've tried, and for just that reason. But I just cant get into the goat-rapin' music. Now, thin one time I unknowingly went to a Goth club................. that was an experience. I'm a Meat-n'-Potatoes, baggy shorts and T-shirt kinda guy- I always have been. I went to this place in Harrisburg called "The Vault" with a buddy of mine once. EVERYONE in the place looked like they havent been outside in a month, and hadn't eaten meat in a year. Ended up hooking up with this vampire Goth chick. Wasn't a bad time at the club, I just stuck out like........... Well, like a 6' tall 210 pound High School Football Player/Wrestler in a room full of Norwegian Vegetarians. |
They have some kick-ass live shows. Steve Larson from Dead Hot Workshop replaced Brian Blush on guitar. www.azpeacemakers.com |
Another fan here. I like the whole album... |
