I keep seeing ads for 98k Mausers with the "RARE" Preduzece 44 stamp on the reciever. Dang near every Yugo/German Capture mauser i have ever seen has this stamp. Whats so rare about it? mike |

May your barrel and your sainted Mom rot in Hell. I reload my own, so price is negligible. And it's non corrosive and flash retardant. BTW, tried to hit anything with the original sights yet? Good luck! Peep apertures on the FR-8, like on any good modern Battle Rifle. Your beer probably is flat, like your females [;)] |

I have a chance at a Sporterized German 98 (k, I think, by the looks of it), with a Lyman aperture sight SET on it. I'm pretty sure the bolt # didn't match, but it is a very clean rifle that belonged to the guy's Dad who brought it home from WWII. It doesn't look like a butcher job. What should I offer this guy for it? Also, he's got a Remington 341 .22LR bolt action rifle made between 1936-40. I'm gonna offer $150 for both. What do you think? |

I just wanted to say that since I've received my C&R license I've purchased 4 Mauser, ok one is on the way back to Century due to bad headspacing but the 3 in my gun safe include: 1 Spanish FR-8, 7.62 NATO 1 Yugo M-48, 8MM 2 Turk 1938, 8mm All of these rifles have their pluses and minuses. I must admit that I was never much of a bolt action milsup guy and now I wonder how I went all these years without them. Don't get me wrong I still love to shoot my AR, AK, Cetme and M1,but even after shooting corrosive ammo just a few squirts of my water/ammonia mixture and a patch and all is well. These Mauser actions only take about 10 minutes to clean compared to the hour I usually spend on my AR. |

Thanks, you smeg chompin' spooge guzzlers!!! [beer] ...better? BTW, if you go to http://www.cruffler.com/whatis.html [red]cruffler.com[/red] you'll find information re shooting various types of .308 in that FR-8, OR other NATO spec chambered rifles that would curl your pubes, I mean, toes. Specifically, from that website: http://www.fo.com/cr-files/cr-308.htm Have fun, carefully! |

Understood, Bus., thanks. AS for you, SS109, Just try to use the issue sights and then try a modern rifle's peep aperture sights. Some difference, eh? Nice being able to hit the target, no? I'm going to try to end this childish insult business, so I won't say that you blow. [;)] |

busmaster you sniveling bag of maggot infested camel droppings Everything i have read on the fr8 says .308 should be fine. It was afterall a large ring mauser chambered in 8mm prior to being neuterd to .308.[:)] My understanding is the fr7 should never use .308 ammo due to a weaker reciever. |

Whats so rare about it? mike From http://www.ellisonsmilitaryrifles.com K98 Preduzece 44 rifle (8x57): Looking for a first class K98 type shooter? These are not the later"M-48" Yugos you'll see other places, but were assembled from mostly brand new German K98 parts right after WW II ended. The occasional waffenamt will even show up on these. These are not brand new rifles produced for the western collector. These were issued and show some use. The rifles we have are all in solid collectable condition. All have matching bolts and receivers, excellent wood and at least 80% metal finish. |

Recon, That's about all the info i've found. I'm just wondering what the hell is so rare about the Preduzece 44 stamp. Every yugo i've seen has been stamped that way. I've looked at several hundred just in bham. That doesn't exactly sound "RARE" to me raf, If we ever hookup we will have to swap fr8 stories. I'd buy you a beer but i don't associate with bisexual cross dressing lepers. [beer] mike |

That picture looks quite like the rifle in question, minus the Lyman sight set. As for the ammo info, I'd hate to have a KA-BOOM! by not being aware or warning of a potential problem... even if were to happen to some of the nicest, albeit [blue]phimosis-laden flaccid stanchions[/blue] I know of! Excuse me--- I must now go iron the wrinkles out of my scrotum... |
