Anyone have any idea why one of those would make an annoying humming sound? It turns off and on and heats but has the hummmm going on. Any idea on what needs to be done to fix it? (other than ear plugs, ripping it out of the wall, etc...)

The heating element is a coil with a 60 hertz, 15 or 20 amp current flowing through in close proximity to sheet metal. This resistive element has the side effect of imitating a transducer. Try to put pressure on one side of the sheet metal body near the wired end and the sound should be reduced.
