I assume that W-M security setups are pretty standardized. If a person is detained and then arrested for shoplifting, how likely is it that there is video of the events that led to the detention? The LP report in question details observations of the suspects prior to detention. Thanks for any help.

Ask Sherrick. He is moonlighting at a Wally world right now.

Sometimes there is no tape. My dumbass frat brother got busted for switching price tags at a Meijer in Ann Arbor.  They had security dressed as shoppers that would blend in and spy on people.  He got busted by one of those people.  He switched tags and they let him walk out and the uniformed security was waiting right outside the doors.

even if they didnt have a tape there is criteria that they have to follow and usually have another witness to the events. They do have a ton of cameras as well so there is a good chance that they call also pull up vidoe of either selection or concealment. They 100 % have video of the exit of the buidling. Also they will have video in the room you get detained in.

They don't rely on tapes much.  Their policy is a 4 steps thing.

1.  Selection of merchandise
2.  Concealment
3.  100% observation
4.  Past the final point of sale

Most of the time they never have the first step.
I went through the training once and decided it didn't pay enough.  $10/hr
