I'm a prick. I just called Duke Cunningham's office
Here's the conversation:

Obnoxious woman: Hello, Randy Cunningham's office.

Me: Yes, I'm looking at the Congressman's website and I'm wondering if you could direct me to news on his felony conviction?

Obnoxious woman: (five second pregnant pause) I don't believe we have the on the website.

Me: Oh, well, is there anything about him resigning in disgrace?

Obnoxious woman: No, but I can pass that message on to the people who do the webpage.

Me: I don't believe he'll need a webmaster in prison. Tell the Congressman I hope he enjoys prison.

That put a huge smile on my face.

Just to be fair, if a democratic congressman was resigning in scandal most here would like to do the same.

Not me!

I have more class and morals than to make such low phone calls.

I've seen lots of scum on TV honestly broken up about being caught. Most don't get the opportunity to make a nice speech though.

Too bad we didn't call the White House went Clinton was impeached and lost his law license.

Atleast Cunningham had the poise to resign.

Its a shame that his own greed stained his career and let his party down.  I am so sick of hearing this "Culture of Corruption" crap

Yeah you're a real prick alright.  Tell me when are you calling your good buddies Hanoi John  and Ramsey Clark to laugh over the details?

To the rest of you - The democrats have been playing this game for a long long time.  If you think you're doing the morally right thing by standing by your principles, well yes that is typical of a Republican, but the Democrats hold no such values.  In the end they will win and its because of people like the above who are happy to watch our party get shafted and prosecuted at every opportunity while the Democrats continue to literally get away with murder.  Pick a side and stay with it.

Well, my side ain't the side of a corrupt politician, regardless of the D or the R after his name.  Cunningham set our party back, fuck him, he's not a victim in this.

Cunningham did the right thing, but that doesn't mean that he doesn't deserve any heat.

Corrupt politicians are not good for anybody.

The Republican Party, with help from the Democrats, has been making a huge name for itself as the party of corruption.  The local Democrats here had a sign up listing 4 big name Republican's who are being investigated on various corruption charges.  Now they can add a 5th name to that list.

The Republican party is known for
Smaller Government
Fiscally Responsible
Restore integrity to the office

hmmm, I'm really not sure what they stand for anymore.

jeez another hero absolutely corrupted by politics and the money.

John Glenn:  'nads as big as cantalopes, ends up as corrupt senator.

Murtha: marine hero, ends up as corrupt/yellow congressman.

Cunninghan:  freaking ace, in a ware where one or two kills was rare, ends up...well you know.

I find it hard to deal with the cognitive dissonance of saluting their service to our country and loathing the assholes they turned into.

He hasn't been convicted, yet, and I'll bet he doesn't spend a year in jail - he's contrite and all, you know.

He has to sell his ill gotten home as part of his plea bargain.  Good, maybe he'l be in a van.

Criminal (Felon) Congressmen and Senators are the worst sort of low life and they should be publicly humiliated and stripped of all Federal retirement benefits, for starters.

These people are entrusted with the welfare of the Nation and their conduct should be held to extremely high standards, not this common, half assed behavior the voters permit.  They ought to at least pretend that they are Patriots.
