Yeah sure, it took a lot of effort to put it in the box and give it to the brown truck guy.  Yeah the box and handful of peanuts costs too.

But 10$ to ship a single magazine in a little cute box marked 1lb?

Didn't expect that much in shipping.  Tonight I am feeling cheap and I feel about 5$ has been picked from my pocket.

Seems a bit high - I agree.

Box = $1.00
Peanuts = $0.25
Shipping = ~ $2.00
Insurance = $1.20
Tracking = $0.45

$5.00 should've covered it via USPS

It is the company's business how much to charge for shipping.  Whenever I buy anything that needs to be shipped and I ALWAYS inquire what the S&H charges are, that way I will not be surprised at the total bill of the time(s).

There are companies that don't charge shipping. Black Hills Shooters Supply comes to mind. Guess what? They charge more per item, and on a large order that adds up to more than a shipping charger from their competition.

You're not getting out of it, unless you buy in massive bulk. Fact of life.

Ebay is by far the worst

some people don't even make money off the item they sell.. they make it off shipping charges

I agree.  I've often stopped internet buys because of how much S&H shows up on the checkout.

If they want 5$ more for the item, I'd really rather see it in their list price instead of them showing MSRP compared to their "discount price".

I like buying from CDNN myself, but the $9.99 shipping charges get me everytime.  So I either: get all my buddies to buy goodies with me and split the shipping OR just wait until I have a bunch of stuff that I need.

Company I worked for paid the entire warehouse/shipping/recieving staff's salary and the department's operating costs through the shipping/handling charges.  I agree it doesn't make much sense for some one off ebay buy but when you're buying from a business they are not just charging you to recoup their costs of using UPS.
