Well the collection agenvy has kept calling and hanging up, so finally Im able to call them back and talk to someone.  I had to keep it clean I quess since I called them, normally when they call me Im not that nice and blame them for my problems.  They still need to justify that $32 dollar charge before they will see it.

They just dont listen either, I have told them Im dead mutiple times, they keep calling.

If they keep calling and hanging up after 3 seconds can I report them for harassment?

So is this the caller who claimed to be the Census Bureau?

Maybe they were trying to contact your Dad to get him to put pressure on you.....

Send them a Cease and Desist letter stating you do not do business with collection agencies and you will only deal with the original creditor. Send it certified, return receipt requested. By law, they have to abide by your request and send your account back to the phone company. Then deal with the phone company and I'm sure they will either send you a copy of the charges or just forget about it. BTW, this is federal law under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.

(I was a bill collector for over 15 years)

You have a right not to be contacted by phone.

I would send a limited C&D and a demand of validation request to the CA.

Here's an edited cut and paste of an actual letter I sent to one of those scumbag CA.  I have X'd out the account numbers, certified mail numbers, etc:

Dear NCO Financial Services:

I am in receipt of your letter dated 08/xx/2005 in which you claim I owe money to your client.  This is the first letter I have recieved from you regarding this matter.  For your reference, your letter lists two account numbers, xxxxxx and xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx..

I dispute your claims in their entirety and request validation pursuant to the FDCPA within thirty (30) days.

This letter also serves as notification for you to only contact me in writing via US mail only -- no phone calls.

In addition, please note my current address as listed on this letter.

Sincerely,

justa_TXguy

I sent it certified mail, RRR, did NOT sign the letter (signatures have a way of jumping documents with CAs.)
