I heard a good one on the MN Hometown Board. One of the usual suspects said, and I quote:  " an AR does not need a different trigger unless it is prarie dog rifle and I do fine with stock for that also".

I must have wasted my damn money!

Could well be. The stock trigger has killed countless tens of thousands of people at the hands of infantrymen serving around the world. Unless you're doing benchrest shooting, p-dog hunting, or are at the very top of the competition a match trigger pretty much is a waste of money. I find that I can hit the center of a military sillouette target at appropriate ranges with ease using the stock triggers on both mine and my uncle's (Sam) weapons.

I do have Jewell for my target rifle but a non-stock trigger doesn't belong on a social weapon - even one as simple, reliable, and well made as the Jewell.

I'll keep my adjustable trigger, it performs far better than the stocker I had. (and yours)

The only two triggers that seem to be as reliable as stock (seen them fail too) is the KAC and the CMC.

For most applications the stock trigger should be used, although I admit that mine is heavy enough to give me trouble. Particularly when trying to fire hammers. That reset is a beyatch.

CMC has had a host of probs hasn't it?  My RRA has been good to go, but I haven't put it through a carbine class or anything...

I don't have anything fancy like a Jewell or Timney, but my RRA/NM is the best $80 and 10 minutes I ever spent. Took it to the range last week with a friend who brought his Bushmaster and Carbon 15, Mine startled the crap out of him the first time he shot it because it had about a third the pull weight of his other two, but after he shot it once he didn't want to give it back.
and then I taught him what we call "Bump Fire"

Resistance is futile (his new trigger gets here by Friday!)

Its like anything else it depends on the gun/trigger.

I bought a new Armalite M-15A2 that had everything wrong that could possibly be wrong with a trigger.

It had slop, it had slack, It had a crunchy grindy feel, it had over travel for days, it had what felt like a 50# pull.

Then I threw (literally) a DPMS kit into a Ameetech lower and ended up with the sweetest trigger there ever was!

Match quality for $40.00 Ya gotta love it!

My groups tightened up considerably when I dropped the standard Colt single-stage and went to the Rock River two-stage.  Never looked back, as it was too easy to drop in.

A couple have. Time will tell more though. I have seen several RRA triggers fail.

I didn't know they used semi auto ar15's in the service.

They use M16's which have, if anything, and inferior trigger to AR's.  That said, the DMR uses a semi KAC.

Only makes a differance if you are REALLY shooting for accuracy. Face it, most of the people here have more then one AR and many here do their share of just blasting away. The comment in the original post is correct. Unless you punching paper in a comp, stock triggers are fine. I have killed shit loads of yotes, rats and other vermin with a stock trigger. You dont NEED an adjustable to be accurate.

<------ Has a CM in at least one as well MANY milspec setups.

I have a CMC two stage along  with an Armalite two stage. All I can say is the CMC is GREAT! I will be getting another one some time later for the M4.
