Anybody have any plans to make one?

They are considering legalizing them in Pennsylvania for deer hunting next year.

I plan on making one of these between my next pottery class and primal scream therapy session.

I see so few deer when I'm deer hunting, the first thing I'm going to throw at them contains lead surrounded by a jacket of copper.  Sticks?  Sticks will have to wait a few years.

Will Cabela's begin marketing the blaze orange loincloth soon enough to catch up with hunter's demand?  That's the real question.

Start learning to use it now, they are hard to operate.  Hence the bow.

An atlatl might be okay for small game, but you better be close and have extremely sharp points for a deer.  It will be akin to Eskimos harpooning whales from skin boats - stick it in and wait for the animal to bleed to death (in a few days).

Way cool.

I remember reading how some anthropologists tried to recreate using them and, also,  running down deer.  Running down deer just amazes me.  It was used to demonstrate that bipedalism is a more efficient means of travel than quadrapedalism and, therefore,  human hunters could chase a deer until it got tired  after sprinted away repeatedly and then bop it on its head like little foo foo rabbit did.

I've seen some Easton aluminum darts for these things so it looks like some people seriously hunt with them.

They are legal in Montana.

Welcome to the 21st century, man.
