Hello everyone. My name is David. I just joined this interesting and informative site. I've been here a few times, looking at information and opinions on the AR-15. I'm relatively new to firearms in general, so I apologize if I have way too many questions at first. I'll try to research the info before posting any questions. her
Well, just wanted to introduce myself. I hope to contribute something positive to your forum someday! Thanks.

WELCOME!!!! Enjoy your stay

as far as building your first ar on a tight budget, just start gathering the parts couple at a time.

Post questions, chances are someone will know

David, you should go for it!  My first AR was a stripped RRA lower and a PCR kit from Olympic.  Assembly was pretty simple if you have a little mechanical inclination.  It worked great!

That's what this place is for, to ask questions.  You wouldn't believe some of the questions I asked when I joined.  Ask away.  There's no such thing as a stupid question.

Except, perhaps, "what gun did Al Pacino use in Heat," or "which round is best against a zombie," or the stupidest of all, "Which should I get, an AR or an AK?"

I'm seriously considering either purchasing or building an AR-15, and decided to join your group to gain more knowledge and understanding before taking the financial plunge. I am on a tight budget, but definitely want to add a 1st rifle to my small firearms collection in the future. Building a firearm intrigues me very much, but of course I'm a little hesitant, since I've never done such a thing.

Well, just wanted to introduce myself. I hope to contribute something positive to your forum someday! Thanks.

Pretty suspicious Dave. Aren't you the least bit curious who can take a full power shot or what gun Al Pacino used in heat?

j/k: Welcome.

I built my first one also. Its not hard at all, the intructions are on this site. I started with a stripped lower and a J & T kit.

The traditional and venerable initiation requires you to send a new USGI magazine to every Team Member.

I'll take a 20 rounder.

Dude.  You're starting off far to seriously.  Just grab an "action figure" and jump in with both feet. *

*I just realized that was a dumb phrase.  Like, what is he going to do, jump in and leave his friggin' feet behind?  Ha!

"Where are your feet, Dave?"

"Oh, I left them beside the pool over there, Earl.  All I need are these stumps when I'm on the internet."

welcome.

a couple things.  Ar15s use magazines not clips, most threads are worthless without pics (including this one), be afraid of the clique mob and the hammer of dead, +1, w00t!, IBTL, YMMV, JMHO, no one can take a full power shot, buy both, all guns should be banned for the kittens, you should be deeply concerned that the colors of your rifle's parts don't match, only colt Ar's never malfunction and in fact after nuclear fallout only cockroaches and colts will exist.

there's more, but why ruin it for you.

Wow. Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. For those who were wondering:

No, I've never been in a prison (Turkish or otherwise). Well, not unless you count my tour of a new prison as an architectural intern when in college, or my project walk-through of a maximum security prison while taking field notes for making CAD drawings for a project for work.

I'm sorry I'm from Delaware. I don't trust Delaware, either, but it's where I moved after college graduation to start a career. I'm originally from PA if that helps anyone. have
Yes, NEWBIE here for sure. Well, at least a newbie to rifles. I do own 2 handguns (both Springfield Armory XD-9 subbies) and a 12ga shotgun (Ithaca Model 37). I do go to my local range when I can, and when funds allow. On a good day, I can shoot about  a 2"-3" group from 20 feet away w/ my subbie. I haven't used the shotgun yet (inherited from Grandfather).

Again, thanks for the welcomes! Shall I start w/ my questions here or a new post?

I'll have to pass on the initiation tradition and opt-out on the magazines-for-everyone purchase. Maybe you missed the part about me being on a budget? Or you're just in denial (like I am). LOL.

The benefits from the site will far outweigh the cost of our magazines.

The membership here is persistent, too.

Welcome Dave!

Once you start really using this site for info, you'll find the search feature for non-members can be quite limiting, but you can overcome that by upping the ante and becoming a paid team member for as little as $24/year.

Here's a thread you'll probably need to refer to, in order to understand what the heck we're saying:

Thanks again for your welcomes. I don't blame some of you for wanting a ban already. Those shady Delawareans, you know? h
As far as asking questions here, I'm not sure exactly what to ask yet. I'm still absorbing information that I'm finding on this site, and checking out your library on the AR-15. I'm sure my newbie questions have already been asked by someone else already. I'll have to look around for the answers. Give me some time. I'll be asking questions eventually. Especially on what to buy and what people like best.

Thanks everyone for making me feel welcomed.

G'day everyone. I posted here a few times, and just realised that I've been rude in not introducing myself. Sorry about that.
What can I say? I'm from, and in, Australia, married, finishing univeristy this week, like guns, but don't own any (we cant just walk down to the local Walmart and pick one up. You have to jump through MANY EXPENSIVE hoops).

Oh, and I've never heard of "Heat". Does that mean I'm banned?
