I'm trying to boot-up into safe mode without logging on to my network.

I see the option when I press the F8 key but it still prompts me to log in after
Windows safe mode appears. If I try to log in, it won't let me (I guess because there is not enough drivers loaded) and pressing escape doesn't do anything.

All I'm trying to do is get to a safe mode/command prompt to delete some hidden spyware files.
It worked at home, and will work here, if I can bypass the network log in screen and just go into Windows Safe Mode desktop.

I'm using Windows 2000.

Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Try disconnecting your ethernet cable and logging in with your username and password.  It may be cached and allow you to get in.  If not, you will need the administrator login and password.

ahhh got lucky, i just logged in as administrator and it didn't require a password. I was then able to use the command prompt!

Thanks!
