Here are the following centerfire rifles that I currently have; WASR 10 -Wire Side-Folding Stock -Romainian Forward Grip (This is the 30 round version) Browning A-Bolt Medallion -Simmons Aetec Scope -7mm-08 Busmaster M4 -Phantom 5C1 -Bayonet Lug -Sammco M33 Handguards -Tango Down Vertical Grip -Aimpoint Comp ML2 -Larue M68 Mount -GG&G BUIS w/Locking Detent -Houge Rubber Grip -6 Postion Un-Marked Tele Stock I am not really looking for another bolt gun, as I already have one. I need to know what I should get next. I ususually shoot at 25 yards, but if the whether is nice I have access to an outdoor range that is between 50-400 yards. I do not want the same type of gun I already have. I only have $1139 to spend on this one. Any suggestions at all would be great! Thanks! As usual, please give a few reasons why you think "x" is a good choice. Please don't just say "x" and leave it at that. I really would like to hear what your opinion of the weapon is and what you like and don't like about it. |

Whoah! That M14 receiver made my blood pressure go up a couple of notches. i am all hot over the M1913 rail they've forged into that muther. Now, the $839 price for the receiver alone has me feeling kinda let down. |
You are mistaken, young padawan. You do not need a license, you just pay a transfer fee, and I believe OH allows class III goodies. ETA: www.davesworld-oh.com/ has some info on the front page. I am sure there is more out there. But I am pretty sure that you CAN get a suppressor/nfa gun, whatever in OH. |
The rifle itself, parts and mags are really inexpensive for what you get. Right arm of the free world, 90 countries weren't wrong. A well built FAL is everything an MBR should be, accurate, reliable, durable, and 7.62NATO. Easiest semi to strip and clean. Excellent ergonomics, good balance, and adjustable gas system. You could buy a DSA within your budget, but a quality build with an Imbel receiver is just as good IMO, and cheaper, more money for mags and ammo. I'd go visit the falfiles.com marketplace and pick something out from somebody with good feedback, lots of nice rifles for sale there. |

Personally I'd get a good quality .22lr bolt action rifle. CZ452, Remington 40x, Anschuetz 1702, Winchester 52. Amazing how accurate these rifles can be to 100 yards. Top it off with a medium to high quality 6x20 variable power scope with target turrets. Not as useful indoors, fun at the outdoor range. However since you don't want another bolt action, how about a Ruger 10/22. Give you plenty of inexpensive practice at 25m, and it's a fun gun to have if you bring someone else along to the range. Start with iron sights, practice often. Once your familiar with it, then put on optics. Another option would be a .22lr conversion kit for the AR15. Since most of your shooting is at 25m, again inexpensive target practice. Either way, take the money you saved buying a $200 dollar rifle and buy ammo and accessories. A 5000rd case of .22lr ammo, a case of Wolf 7.62x39mm, a case of .223 Remington, a RCBS Rockchucker reloading press, a scale, 7mm-08 reloading dies, 100 pieces 7mm-08 brass, several boxes of bullets, 1000 primers, and a pound of powder. That should keep you busy in 2006. |
