My collection so far:

20" AR
WASR-10
MN 91/30
K-98
Howa .308
Couple .22's
Beretta 92FS

I'm thinking a FAL, 1911, or maybe an ACOG. Any other suggestions under $1000?

I'm at college and am going to VA for OCS (hopefully) over the summer, so courses aren't really feasible.

I'd only go M4 / 16" route if I could mount some optics and stuff on it, but that's beyond the $1000 price range for now.

Here's a hint, it starts with "S" and ends with "pringfield Armory"

There's no such thing. All Garands have been rebuilt at one time or another just as all US service weapons have. Get one from the CMP, they come straight from the government warehouses and are at a better than decent price.

You could set yourself up with a Savage 10FP-LE2, a 10x Super Sniper and good base/rings for under a grand and have one hell of a starter precision rifle.

Any specific models for either Kimber or SA? I'm just trying to get a general idea of what's decent, I know I'll be getting differing opinions. Was thinking a MC Operator perhaps.

Oddly enough, the only kaboom I've ever had was in my $2,000 Wilson CQB in the vaunted man-stopping giant killer 45 ACP that everyone knows is the only caliber a man would use because it is what they teach at Gunsite.

The rim let go and I had to send it back to Wilson for a new extractor and grips.  Both grips were blown apart in my hands.

Glock perfection, baby.

I have nothing against Glocks, like them very much.  I currently own a full size Kimber and have no problems whatsoever.  The only issue I know of with a .45 is if you shoot it limp wristed it may stove pipe.  Do you have limp wrists???  Is that why your's jams when you fire it???

I have the bolt action .308 Howa for clanking steel chickens at 200 yards. If I hand loaded, that's exactly what I'd go for.

If you want a Kimber, make sure it has an internal extractor and is without a firing-pin safety.  I dunno if any of thier 1911s are set-up like that other than the Warrior.  As far as SA goes, you can't go wrong with the MC Operator.

Seriously, no issues with Glocks.  Have a question though.  I've only shot a 9mm Glock, how does the .45 Glock handle???

Can't afford to buy a ton of ammo for something like that. It does look impressive though. I'm more of an offhand rifle shooter or just enjoy blasting bowling pins with a pistol.

Well, what exactly do you want to utilize this new weapon for???  Self defense, home protection, conceal/open carry, competition shooting, plinking, mounting it on the wall, safe queen, killing zombies, underwater bump firing, investment, etc.  Might help narrow down some options.

Practice and ammo.

Admittedly that video is nothing compared to what she's capable of now.  I can send 100 rounds through it in about 3 or 4 seconds

Stuff you might want to keep an eye out for because I said so:

A Lee-Enfield.  I have a No.4Mk.2 and I freakin love it.  One of the most elegant rifles EVER.
Can't go wrong with a decent 1911-apparently God himself would carry one.
A levergun of some sort.  A used levergun in .357 would be inexpensive to buy and relatively cheap to feed.
Say, I don't see a shotgun on your list.  A 12 gauge is one of the must-have firearms.

Stuff I'm on the lookout for a deal on:
A K31.  Expensive ammo but cheap, extremely well crafted guns that are accurate and have an interesting action.
A wheelgun of some sort (I'm leaning toward a S&W 686, but would buy a .44 if the price were right).
An SKS of some sort-but you've already got the WASR.
A Browning Hi-Power.

Perhaps one of those would be to your liking.  Most of them would fall well below your price limit. (I'm a cheap sumbitch)

I like the old bolt actions. Nothing like cleaning them up and making them look new again. If I can find a few at a decent price I just may do that.
