Does a double action only cock the the hammer back with the recoil of the slide, or does the hammer go back and then fire with the pull of the trigger?

Thats what I was afraid of!  Do they produce them that way for safety while carring?

Its that way so that the trigger pull feels the same each time. With a regular auto the first pull is long and hard then after the slide goes back it gets easy and short. The point of impact changes from the first shot to the second. DAO solves that..
