My comp is ghey... I've run Ad-Aware, CrapCleaner, Microsoft AntiSpyware, and Ewido. They all found stuff and I got rid of it. Everytime I put my wireless card into the wireless card thing, the screen goes black. It doesn't shut off, because I'm able to close (it's a laptop) the comp and reopen it to a normal screen. I've tried this with both wireless cards...any suggestions? |

Sounds like some seriously weird ACPI power management issues. Maybe a currupted HAL (Hardware Abstraction Layer) I would back up anything worth keeping then run DBAN. Then do a clean O/S install. - Be sure to have copies of any needed drivers and your O/S PID key BEFORE you nuke your system. Edit - Just to clairify - This will nuke your system - EVERYTHING will be GONE! Including what ever was causing you problems unless it was a hardware issue to begin with. . . |

might also try this. take the wireless card out of the system. go to the control panel. uninstall all the software for your wireless card. restart the comptuer. plug the card in and see if it does the same thing. if it does work you will need to reinstall the driver for that card |

A restore point might work if you know when the issue first started. As someone who used to charge by 3minute intervals for tech support I will tell you that techs don't want to waste time chasing system gremlins - even more so with todays spyware/malware/krugerware which will embed themselves in your system files and reinstall themselves after a few reboots. Techs like the Aleins approach - Nuke it from orbit, its the only way to be sure. In really bad cases - where the user can't find the "any" key and such we will sometimes ship out a replacement hdd with a complete O/S, Driver and apps all preloaded and configured. |
I plugged the wireless cards in the other comp and it worked just fine I did a "work offline" thing earlier. I managed to get it to Google and was trying to type something and the backspace key didn't work...so I figured it was Spyware screwing with my keys.

well to get working online again open IE click file then uncheck working offline. that will get you back online. At this point i would say a fresh install of windows would be the only way to really test the system. backup your files that are needed. then reinstall windows. |
I thought it was just for wireless....
