Has anyone been there lately? I know that they have made guns verboten, but how about knives? What type of screening to they use? Do they just peek in the pack or are there metal detectors? Inquiring minds want to know. |
No, atleast not when I was there in June. As for the searches, they will search your bags, but dont know if they do it at every park. They didnt do it at disneyquest/typhoon lagoon but they did do it at the magic kingdom. |
| I've been there 3 times since 01, including December of 01. They inspected all bags but there were no metal detectors and no pat downs. If you weren't carrying a bag, you were waved past the security checks. Since I carried my Kel Tec P32 in to every park I just gave her the bags and the kids and I walked right through and waited for her. Of course, you can't bring a gun in to the parks but they are more concerned with explosives. I don't recall what they did about knives. I don't think pocket knives are a problem. |
Horse shit! There are no signs anywhere inside or outside the Magic Kingdom implied or otherwise stating CCW is not allowed. We've discussed this on floridashootersnetwork.com ad nauseum. CCW on your body and have a great time. HS1 |
A big +1. There are "tents" to search your bags (purses, man bags, etc.). Just keep it on your body and walk through. Bigfeet |
And even if there were, under Florida law, you could not be prosecuted if you carried anyway and had to use your gun in self defense. |
| I was there last weeek, security getting into the parks was no big deal, they searched all bags, but no metal detectors, or pat downs. No getting onto the disney cruise ship was a different matter. The security there would rival any airport, but the difference is the screeners were polite and efficient |
Nope, the rat is just another part of the Hollywood shit everybody here bitches about but still supports. Visit central Florida and see what kind of shit hole it now is due to that rat. As a child I always enjoyed watching Walt talk about his dream, little did I know what kind of monster it would turn out to be. Disney has its own police, ems, fire department. Get hurt or in trouble and see just how things work. |
That truly has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen written here. Disney has its problems, but to blame the ills of central Florida on Disney is incredibly ridiculous. |
+1 I am very careful and conscious where I spend my money, Disney took themselves off my list since the early 90's. |
Sorry dude, native Floridian here. The rat started the whole shit house slide. |
Same here. Native. Would absolutely have to agree. |
+1 |
Probably should pick up this book. www.carlhiaasen.com/books/team.html |

A couple of reviews. www.powells.com/review/2002_05_25.html www.powells.com/biblio?isbn=0345422805 And no, I don't need Carl to tell me anything, lived here for fifty+ years. Keep supporting the rat and Hollywood and bitch about them here in the forum, it's for the kids... |
Sorry dude, native Floridian HERE. And I reiterate: that's incredibly ridiculous. |
That is not the debate however. No one was saying that Disney doesn't support liberal politics. The debate was your statement that Disney was responsible for the problems that central Florida has. |

Well, we went on a family vacation for a week there in May. All I have to say, is despite what their behind the scenes politics are...we a great, better than great time. It was the first time we actually stayed on Disney property. We stayed at The Wilderness Lodge. I haven't been to Disney since I was in college, and before that when i was a kid...I actually went not expecting much, but had a really good time. Went with my parents, sister and brother-in-law. My Mom just decided it had been years since we actually were on a real FAMILY vacation, with nothing to do but relax, so she arranged it all. Magic Kingdom, Epcot, MGM Studios, Wildlife Kingdom (or whatever its called), all really fun. I still like EPCOT the best (make sure you ride the Mission Space ride!). Plus at EPCOT, you can snak around the world...bratwurst and WeiBbeer in Germany, fish and chips and stout in England, Chinese, Japanese, Morrocan, all fun to sample. And if you are in the mood, go to Pirates of the Caribbean in Magic Kingdom, buy a pirate gun, go to EPCOT, and conquer the French pavillion, I am sure you could, even with a to pirate gun...become ruler of France for a day, and make all the little French hotties working at the pastry shops parade naked in front of you....ITS GOOD TO BE THE KING! (The thought crossed my mind, and there were some HOTTIES! working there.,..) I got more play speaking German to the beer maids in Germany though.... Anyway, no body searches, just bags. Pretty low key. Go and have a good time! |

I was there a few days ago. They search all bags and strollers. No aparent metal detectors anywhere. You would have no problem carrying concealed (but the weapon might get wet on Splash Mountain and a number of other attractions). I would not carry there. WDW has massive security. They will ask you to leave if they catch you (I'd hate to forfeit many hundreds of dollars worth of park passes). Was there some sort of school break for New Jersey last week? WDW was full of angry yentas with icky northeastern accents. GunLvr |

When I went last, I carried a Glock 19 into the park in Thunderwear and wore a fanny pack empty into the park. When I got in, I went to the john and transferred the Glock to the fanny pack, which protected it from water. |
Thunderwear? Fanny Pack? ![]() Seriously though, after reading this thread, I gotta wonder how much money the right spends at knowingly left, and far let supporting businesses.........
|
The only thing they can do if your carrying and they dont want you to, is ask you to leave. Not a thing they can do other than that. If you are asked to leave though, you have to, as it is private property. If you refuse to leave then you can be sited with a trespass warning and if you still refuse, then you can be charged with armed trespassing. I have carried everytime I have been then since I was legally able to, and will continue to do so. |
Must be WA state humor, because it doesn't translate well. |

Not sure about the affect of Disney but Orlando and Central Florida seem like great places. If my wife were willing I'd move down. Orlando seems a lot nicer than when I visited in the late 80s and mid 90s. I did not see any bad areas and I was around the Fla Mall, Belz Outlets, Intl Drive, Lake Buena Vista, Kissimmee and Disneyworld. Flying in, the whole area is beautiful. People are all really nice down there. The place does have a more Spanish feel than it used to, but the Spanish folks I ran into were all either working hard or enjoying Disneyworld. Seems like the Puerto Ricans and Cubans are a cut or two above the Mexican peasants we have where I live. GunLvr |

There was an article in the newspaper yesterday stating that the number of armed assaults has declined by some 10,000 in the last 10 years. If you think about that for a second, Florida has grown quite a bit over the last 10 years. The article's author attributed it to the CCW bill passage. Bigfeet |
Scared of gays? that's a manly man atitude. In any case, I work part-time at DL in Parking and last Saturday was a Gay-Day of some kind. Guess what we were handing out at the Parking Toll Booths? Some new promotion on Fairies, Tinkerbell has sisters and friends apparently. I'm sure that feelings were mixed as they drove up into the lot and realized that they were just given a handful of folders extolling fairies. "Hey are they making fun of us?" Although the most excitement was when a car caught fire on the 4th floor of the parking structure. One of my buddies, who has never used a fire extinguisher for effect or practice was quite surprised when he got 2 seconds of powder and it quit. Bag checks only at the gates. No wanding. If they see something, you get told to take it back to the car. If you make a fuss, you might get tossed, but it's usually pretty dificult to get annoying enough to get tossed. Most of the people I've seen get tossed are pretty much Grade A Assholes. Grade B and Grade C Assholes usually get let in. Wand Checks and Bag Checks at Knotts during Halloween Haunt. |
No it doesn't... The rat doesn't want ANYONE not on duty in uniform to be armed. They've even given detectives investigating a crime on the property shit about their sidearms as they were in plain clothes. If you ask you will be told by security that their policy is absolutely no weapons on property. I had some jackass even tell me that "if caught, YOU WILL BE ARRESTED" I didn't argue, knowing perfectly well that as per the state code 730.XX that covers CCW they can only ask me to leave and I can only be charged if I refuse. That being said, I CCW whenever I'm there. Other than a few days just after 9/11 when they had wands out, they only do bag searches. I find it even more imperative to carry at WDW in todays world since when they searched Mohamed Atta's car in the Logan Airport the afternoon of 9/12, they found detailed maps and blueprints of the WDW complex. Living 30 minutes away from the park I can never allow myself to forget that Disney is a target. |
