I served for 3 years as a volunteer Infantryman, as an 81mm mortar gunner, in the Weapons Platoon, of Co. “C”, 1st Bn., 16th Infantry (Rangers), of the First Infantry Division, from 1971 until 1974.

Is this legit? Was the "Rangers" term used for units in the regular infantry at the time? Also, he claims to have been in Germany; was the 1 ID there at the time?
