Has anyone heard about this thing? It almost sounds like a joke. Supposedly, Stavatti has created some kind of design (I don't even think they have a prototype) for a laser rifle called the SF-1 . It is supposed to be powered by heat from Polonium decay, lethal out to 1800 meters, and the power source is supposed to last 60 days. It even says it will be able to fire full auto. This would be awesome if they ever developed it, but I can't imagine a shoulder mounted lazer developing enough energy to burn through a human target (IIRC, lazers have a tough time penetrating water). Here is a link to the Defense Review Article about it: defrev.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=460 Look at the white paper on the TIS-1 and the SF-1 description for details. |
only if it emmits some sort of kenetic charge vs just straight heat energy. |
