Just wondering if anyone knows anything about the Springfield FAL in 5.56mm?  Any details on it would be helpful.

Thanks

As someone who is very much not in the know when it comes to FALs what is the difference, if any, between an FAL in 5.56mm and an FNC?

One was used by Al Pacino in Heat, and the other was not.

That was the first question that popped into my mind as well.

We have a FN-CAL (5.56mm) in our armory.  Not sure what is wrong with it, but it only fires single shot.
None of our CATM guys are familiar enough with it to attempt repairs, and with funding in short supply, we wouldn't be able to get parts for it anyway.

I wasn't really impressed with it, but wouldn't mind having one.

Not trying to be smart,  but the FAL in 5.56 mm is a FAL in 5.56 mm and the FNC is a completely different rifle.

Regarding the FN-CAL (another completely different rifle), it appears from photos to share the same style gas plug as a FN-FAL. Perhaps it is firing single shot because the gas plug is in the grenade launching mode.
