A local antique shop has what appear to be and original WW2 US helmet with the lining, and original trench shovel with the wooden handle and the blade is marked US. I was just wondering if any of you guys might know the going rate for these items. I like to collect old memorabillia is this stuff seems interesting. Thanks |

Helmet shells, unless they are Airborne specific, are worth 20-30 only unless the paint is in great shape with the division markings still there. The lining may or may not be original WWII. Helmet collecting is a very detailed thing, and there are websites devoted to just that. Trenching tools also, it's very hard to determine WWII dates unless the date is stamped, which they sometimes are. Remember that the Korean War used up a LOT of leftover WWII inventory, so there are tons of things built in the 40's that were modified later for use in Korea. If you think it's a cool looking helmet, buy it, but don't think you will have a valuable item, unless it's Airborne. |

Are the bales fixed or no? Very cool WWII helmet restoration site |
